More about this coffee and its origins
The Miraflores program features coffees sourced from Colombia’s finest coffee-growing departments, bringing stunning seasonal and regional freshness to the fore.
This edition of the Miraflores series comes from the region of Manta, in Cundinamarca, approximately 90km northeast of Bogota.
Situated in the Tenza Valley, high in the Colombian Andes, the richness of Manta’s clay soil is reflected the towns name, which means “to our tillage” in the Muisca language.
The steep, mountainous terrain necessitates hand picking, and each grower operates their own washing station where they pulp and ferment the coffee for 24-36 hours before proceeding with drying. The dried parchment coffee is then taken to Bogota Milling Plant for dry-milling, grading and preparation for export.
Manta enjoys a temperate climate with an average temperature of 16 - 17C and 1500 – 2000mm of annual rainfall. Local farmers intercrop with corn, potatoes, bananas, and beans to enhance soil biodiversity.
